Samatha And The New Piano

 

 

 

Last Christmas came and went only about one month ago.

Mom convinced Santa to bring Samantha a beautiful child size Grand Piano.

This was the best present six year old Samantha had ever gotten in her whole life.

She gleefully helped her dad put the piano together during Christmas morning.

 

Samantha spent the rest of the day learning about her new musical instrument.

She took a couple of breaks to eat lunch and dinner,

And give mom and dad hugs and kisses for talking to Santa,

Before going back to her bedroom to practice some songs.

 

Samantha knew she had about 14 days before school began again.

So, that means she has 14 days to practice the songs in the song book that came with the piano.

And practice those song, she did.

By the time school began again Samantha was ready to give her teacher a big surprise.

 

It is now the first day back in school after Christmas break.

A regular size piano sits mostly quiet in the corner of Samantha's classroom.

The teacher plays a song for the class every now and then.

None of the other 15 children in the classroom seem interested in the piano.

 

When recess time was here for everyone,

Samantha asked the teacher if she could show her something on the piano.

Mrs. Wilkinson said, "Sure, Samantha... I did not know you liked the piano."

The teacher gathered the class around Samantha and the piano.

 

Samantha gave a grand little performance before the class.

Everybody cheered for her after she finished a rousing performance of Jingle Bells,

Followed by Frosty The Snowman and Twinkle Twinkle Little star.

Everybody had a big smile on their faces when she finished the last song.

 

At the end of this very fun and festive day,

Mrs. Wilkinson gave Samantha a note to take home to mom.

And when Samantha gave the envelope to mom,

A huge smile came over her face as she read what Mrs. Wilkinson wrote.

 

"Oh, Samantha," Mom said in a happy way.

"Mrs. Wilkinson said she is proud of your piano playing ability.

"And, she wants to know if you want to join the orchestra class?"

Samantha answered that question by practicing the other three songs in the song book.
